Somerset Day, May 11th, is celebrated annually over the second weekend in May and is a remarkable celebration of all that makes our county unique.
It's an annual event where we pay tribute to Somerset's vibrant culture, historical significance, and our wonderful communities. From traditional festivities to modern attractions, Somerset Day is an embodiment of our county's spirit.
In 2026, something magical happened across Somerset.
The Journey of the Somerset Dragon captured hearts and imaginations as communities came together to welcome a unique symbol of our pride in, and love of, Somerset.
Designed and built by talented students and staff at Taunton College, the seven-foot-high Somerset Dragon travelled the county, bringing people together through storytelling, heritage, creativity and celebration. The Dragon became the centrepiece of Somerset Day 2026, visiting towns and villages inspiring and exciting thousands.
